The variety was developed by breeders at the Cereal Institute in Thessaloniki using local genetic resources. It is intended for the food industry, in particular for obtaining semolina and producing pasta.
In scientific publications, the variety was studied for the composition of proteins (gliadins and glutenins), which determine its technological properties, and was also studied in experiments on grain storage and susceptibility to the pests Rhyzopertha dominica and Sitophilus oryzae.
