Priziusa is a synonym for the Sicilian landrace Russello, which is also known by the names Tangarò, Russulidda, Preziosa and Gigante rosso. This variety is not a product of classic breeding but formed as a folk population adapted to local growing conditions.

The plant is characterized by a tall stem, which ensures competitiveness against weeds. The variety possesses resistance to hot and arid conditions, as well as to biotic and abiotic stresses. Its yield is lower than that of modern varieties, however, it is valued for its nutritional value and the chemical composition of its protein.

This variety type is used in organic farming to preserve agrobiodiversity. Flour, bread and pasta products are produced from it. Since it is a landrace, the purity of the seed material may vary, and different lots may have genetic differences.
