The Senadur variety was developed in Spain using CIMMYT genetic resources and was widely used in the Mediterranean region as a control sample in breeding programs. It belongs to the group of varieties adapted to growing conditions in Spain.

The grain of the variety has a high sedimentation index, which determines its value for the pasta industry. In field agronomic studies in southern Spain, the variety was classified as susceptible to powdery mildew infection.
