Settecentanni is an autochthonous Sicilian wheat population, with references dating back to the early 19th century. The name Perciasacchi, meaning "sack-piercing," is due to the pointed shape of the grain of this crop.

The plant is a low-yielding, tall-growing variety, which allows it to effectively suppress weeds. The variety is adapted for cultivation on poor soils, including calcareous ones.

The grain is valued for the technological properties of its flour and the organoleptic qualities of the finished products. Due to its genetic characteristics, the gluten of this wheat differs from that of modern industrial varieties and is considered more easily digestible.
