The variety was developed by researchers at the AGRIS Sardegna agency during breeding work that included experiments at the San Michele experimental station in Ussana. The creation of the variety was the result of many years of research conducted for the needs of the region's agriculture.

The variety belongs to durum wheat, the main raw material for which is vitreous grain with a high protein content. The main purpose of the crop is processing into flour for pasta and the production of semolina.
