The variety belongs to the species Triticum durum. The parent lines Amber durum and S-22-80 were used in the breeding process. It belongs to the category of old improved varieties with a long development cycle, intended for cultivation in the Mediterranean region.

The plant has high susceptibility to Fusarium head blight and was studied for resistance to leaf rust. Gluten quality is assessed as medium to medium-high, while the variety may show low gluten aggregation indices.

In agronomic publications, the variety is often mentioned in biochemical studies aimed at researching the enzymatic composition of grain, in particular lipoxygenase in semolina.
