The Valdur variety was traditionally intended for processing into semolina and pasta production. It is known in international scientific research as an important genetic component involved in the pedigree of varieties such as Neodur and Biodur.

During breeding work, the genetic material of the variety was used to study resistance mechanisms to pests, in particular to the wheat stem sawfly, due to its participation in the creation of solid-stem varieties.
