The variety belongs to tetraploid wheats. In scientific studies of grain morphology, Ambral is characterized by grain thickness similar to varieties such as Zyta, Baroudeur, and Artaban.

The variety exhibits high sensitivity to water deficit, which is expressed in a noticeable decrease in thousand kernel weight and total yield under unfavorable conditions. It is used in crosses, for example with the variety Cakmak-79, to study the diversity of tetraploid wheats.
