The Columbus tulip variety belongs to the Double Early class. The plant height is between 30 and 50 cm, with a sturdy stem holding a large peony-like bud 7.5 to 11 cm in diameter. The 18–20 petals are colored in a saturated pink or crimson hue with a creamy-white border along the edge.
The variety is early-flowering, with the flowering period occurring from April to early May. The plant is resistant to wind, rain, diseases, and pests. It is suitable for cultivation in open ground, containers, pots, and for professional forcing, which requires cooling at 9°C for approximately 22 days.
