The Harunohimatsuri variety is the subject of scientific research focused on the study of aromatic compounds in tulips. A significant content of trans-β-ocimene and 3,5-dimethoxytoluene (DMT) has been recorded in the substances emitted by the plant.

The plant's fragrance changes over time: shortly after flowering, the variety possesses a herbaceous scent, which acquires a medicinal-spicy note as 3,5-dimethoxytoluene accumulates. Information regarding the morphological traits and agronomic characteristics of the variety is absent in open publications.
