The plant reaches a height of 10 to 45 cm. The flowers are golden-yellow in color, often with a greenish tinge on the outer petals, and have a light, pleasant fragrance. In the bud phase, the flower is drooping, but it rises as it develops.

This species is used in landscape design for naturalizing in gardens, parks, on forest edges, and in rock gardens. The plant propagates easily, returning to the planting site in subsequent seasons, and prefers well-drained soils.
