ActiveVaccinium corymbosum L. · Highbush blueberry
Wagner L. Adam, Boches Peter Stefan, Bermudo Antonio A. Alamo, Brazelton M. David
10 August 2026
The variety is a representative of the Southern Highbush blueberry group and was obtained by crossing forms of Vaccinium corymbosum and Vaccinium darrowi. Successful cultivation requires approximately 200–300 chilling hours. The bush is vigorous and upright, reaching a height of 1 to 2 meters, which makes it suitable for mechanical harvesting.
The berries have a light blue color and possess a sweet, spicy taste. The variety is characterized by excellent keeping quality of the fruits and high yields, reaching 3–6 kg per bush. Despite its ability to self-pollinate, cross-pollination with other varieties flowering during the same period is recommended to improve crop quality.
The variety is heat-loving and does not tolerate harsh winters. At a young age, with excessive fruiting, plants may be susceptible to stem canker. The crop is widely used in commercial production as a variety for the fresh market.
