The variety forms a basal rosette of woolly dark green or grey-green leaves and reaches a height of 90 cm to 1.2 m. The plant is a semi-evergreen perennial, often exhibiting biennial characteristics.
Flowers of a rich cherry-pink or wine-red shade are gathered in elegant spike-like racemes. The variety is winter hardy, drought tolerant after establishment, and prefers sunny sites with well-drained soils.
The plant requires protection from mullein moth larvae, does not tolerate excessive winter moisture, and requires the removal of spent flower stalks to stimulate re-blooming.
The right is granted for a limited term: propagation of the variety requires a license from the rights holder.
