Variety description

The plant forms dense spike-like inflorescences on sturdy peduncles. Foliage is rugose, gray-green or dark green in shade, with felt-like pubescence. The variety is often described as a short-lived perennial or biennial, capable of persisting in the garden through self-seeding.

Flowering begins in May and lasts until August; removing faded spikes can extend the flowering period. The plant is drought-tolerant, prefers well-drained soils, and does not tolerate winter waterlogging. Resistant to deer and rabbits; in high humidity, it can be affected by powdery mildew.
