The variety has been known since the 16th century and is considered an object of restoration and study. It has a number of synonyms, including Valensi noir, and is discussed in scientific literature in the context of possible identity with the Beba Negra variety. The berries of the variety are characterized by a black-blue color.
In modern winemaking practice, the variety is used for the production of dry wines, which are typical for aromas of red berries and fruit notes. Detailed agrotechnical characteristics, such as yield indicators, disease resistance, or ripening times, are not presented in open publications.
