Variety description

10 August 2026

The variety has a mid-late ripening period, with harvest taking place in October. The vines are characterized by high vigor and a spreading shoot habit. The plant is well-adapted to the hot Mediterranean climate, yet it shows sensitivity to powdery mildew, sunburn of the berries, and hot winds.

The bunches are medium-sized, pyramidal in shape, and range from semi-compact to compact. The berries are spherical, dark purple in color, with thick skins, an abundant waxy bloom, and fleshy pulp. The yield of the variety is estimated as moderate to low, which contributes to obtaining high-quality berries for winemaking.

The variety is used exclusively for technical purposes for the production of full-bodied red wines with pronounced tannins. Wines made from it have aging potential and a bouquet with notes of dark forest berries, spices, violets, and licorice. It is used both for creating varietal wines and in blends.
