The variety is a local grape that was long considered extinct. It is used in winemaking both for varietal wines and in blends. Traditionally, the variety is grown in old vineyards using the gobelet bush training system.

The grape belongs to the late-ripening category. An important feature is its ability to maintain high acidity even when grown in warm climates, which allows it to be used to add freshness to wines and improve their structure.

In some specialized databases, the name may be listed as a synonym for the Garnacha variety; however, the revival project classifies it as a separate rare variety with unique characteristics. Data on disease resistance, yield, and precise morphological traits are unavailable.
