The Trobat variety is an ancient autochthonous variety of the Costers del Segre region, which is currently being actively recovered by local wineries and research institutes. The variety is classified as a wine grape and is used to create monovarietal wines with a distinct regional character.

The plant has a vigorous vine and is characterized by low yields. The bunches are long and of medium density. The berries are small to medium in size and round in shape; in the Trobat Negre variant, the color turns blue-black upon ripening. The variety ripens earlier than Garnacha.

There are Trobat Negre and Trobat Blanc variants, although the name may encompass various local clones or be confused with other varieties such as Torbato or Tourbat. The variety is at the stage of scientific study, assessment of typicality, and the process of inclusion in official lists of permitted regional varieties.
