The Kodryanka (Black Magic) variety was obtained in Moldova by crossing the Moldova and Marshal varieties. The vine is vigorous, with cylindrical-conical bunches of medium density, weighing 500–600 g, sometimes up to 1.5 kg. The berries are large, oval-elongated, dark purple in color with firm, crispy flesh and thin skin. The ripening period is 110–118 days.
The variety has increased resistance to downy mildew and powdery mildew, and the vine ripens well. In unfavorable years, a tendency toward berry shot is noted. The harvest is characterized by a harmonious taste, good transportability, and the ability to remain on the vine for a long time.
The Russian hybrid form Chernaya magiya, bred at the Ya. I. Potapenko All-Russian Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking, has a ripening period of 118–125 days. The vines are vigorous, bunches weigh 500–800 g, and the berries are black and large. Cold hardiness is up to -24°C, and resistance to fungal diseases is medium.
