The Bilan variety is an indigenous Croatian wine (technical) grape variety. In literature, it is mentioned in international grape catalogs as a variety prevalent in Croatia.
Due to the lack of a broad international description, the Bilan variety is often confused with other grape varieties having similar names, such as Bianca, Bilina, or Villard Blanc. The term "bilan" also appears in winemaking documentation as a common noun meaning "report" or "balance," which complicates the search for specific information about the variety.
