Biancu Gentile B is an autochthonous Corsican variety that, after a period of decline, was restored by winegrowers in the 1990s. The plant is characterized by very high vigor, moderate to above-average yields, and belongs to the mid-season or mid-late ripening varieties.
The clusters are medium-sized, cylindrical-conical or elongated in shape, and loose or medium-dense. The small to medium round berries acquire a yellow or amber-yellow hue upon ripening. The variety is susceptible to downy mildew, powdery mildew, and grey mold, and requires control of harvest timing due to a tendency for rapid acidity loss.
Wines from this variety possess good structure and a mineral tone; their taste and aroma are dominated by notes of exotic fruits, citrus, apricot, and white peach, as well as floral and honey nuances.
