The variety is autochthonous to north-west Italy. The first written mention dates back to 1614. Its purpose is technical, used for the production of quality white wines, and less frequently consumed as a table grape. The name Bianca Fernanda is mainly found in the Veneto region.

The vine is vigorous with bisexual flowers. The leaf is medium-sized, five-lobed, and dark green. The bunch is cylindrical-conical, often with a wing. Berries are medium, oval, with thin skin, which makes the variety susceptible to grey mold in high humidity. The variety is productive and requires load control.

Wines from this variety possess high acidity, a fresh taste, and minerality. The aroma is dominated by notes of apple, lime, peach, and melon, as well as almond and herbaceous undertones.
