The variety originates from the Piacenza area. In the official grape classification, the letter «B» indicates the white color of the berry skin. The variety is considered rare, and its planting area has significantly decreased over the last decades.

The variety is authorized for use in the production of DOP and IGP wines, as well as sparkling wines without a category designation. In a number of documents, the variety is associated with the Vernaccia di San Gimignano variety. Detailed agrotechnical characteristics, including maturity timing and disease resistance, are not presented in open sources.
