The variety is an interspecific hybrid of Vitis berlandieri and Vitis riparia. It is a vigorous rootstock variety with a strong root system, providing high drought tolerance and good adaptation to calcareous soils with total carbonate content up to 35–40% and active lime up to 20%. Resistant to chlorosis.
The vegetation period is approximately 180 days. Shoots reach a length of 3.5–4 meters, internodes are long. Vine maturation is approximately 80%. Flower type is functionally female. The root system has high resistance to grape phylloxera (root form), while resistance to the leaf form of phylloxera is medium.
Bud frost resistance reaches -30°C, and roots down to -9°C. The variety has high resistance to fungal diseases, however, it can be affected by gray mold and shoot necrosis. It is not intended for berry production, as its main function is to support the growth and development of grafted cultivars.
