The rootstock is a hybrid of the species Vitis berlandieri and Vitis riparia. Its primary role is to ensure the resistance of grafted varieties to phylloxera and adaptation to less fertile, stony, or sandy soils. The use of this rootstock contributes to an increase in the cluster weight of grafted varieties.

The plant has good vigor. The leaves are large, slightly elongated in length. Internodes have an average length of about 14–15 cm, tendrils are predominantly double.
