The variety is a hybrid of Vitis berlandieri and Vitis riparia with a male flower type, as a result of which it does not form bunches and is not used for berry production. The growing season lasts 175–190 days. The bushes are vigorous, with shoots reaching 3.5–4 meters in length.
The plant possesses high resistance to root phylloxera and major fungal diseases. It adapts well to warm and deep soils, tolerates up to 35% active lime, yet is sensitive to excessive moisture and cold soils. It is noted for good graft compatibility with European varieties and high-quality rooting of cuttings.
Scientific literature notes that due to the heterogeneity of the initial breeding material under this name, genetically diverse clones may be encountered in different countries.
