The variety is native to the Canary Islands and is genetically one of the parents of the Malvasía Volcánica variety. The grapes are intended exclusively for the production of white wines possessing aromatic notes of palm leaves, passion fruit, and fig, and are often included in blends.
The plant has yellow berries and ripens well on sandy soils. The variety is considered difficult to cultivate due to its tendency for flower and fruit drop.
The name Bermejuela is a synonym for the Marmajuelo variety. Information on disease resistance or specific morphological parameters of the vine is not available in open sources.
