The Bia blanc variety belongs to the Pelorsien ecogeographic group and is traditional for the Isère river valley and the Rhône region. The vines are characterized by strong growth and a semi-upright shoot habit. The clusters are small or medium, narrow, cylindrical in shape, often with a wing.
The berries are medium-sized, oval or elliptical in shape, with a thick skin of yellow-green or amber color. The berry flesh is melting, and the taste is sweet. The variety is susceptible to downy mildew and gray mold, while showing some tolerance to powdery mildew.
Wines from this grape are distinguished by a delicate aroma and a balanced content of sugar and acidity. The variety is included in the official French catalogue of grape varieties and is undergoing restoration within the framework of programs for the conservation of rare historical varieties.
