Nemesia propagation by cuttings

Nemesia Vent.

Propagation by cuttings is a key method for multiplying hybrid Nemesia varieties, ensuring the full preservation of parent plant characteristics, which are often lost when using seed propagation.

In the reference 6 varieties crop Nemesia, where this is mentioned in the description.

Apical and non-lignified stem cuttings are used for propagation. Rooting is carried out in a light, moisture-retentive substrate based on peat and perlite at a temperature of 18–20°C, preferably with the use of bottom heat, which allows for finished planting material to be obtained within two to three weeks.

Nemesia is highly sensitive to waterlogging; therefore, monitoring substrate moisture and regular ventilation of cuttings under cover are critical factors for preventing root rot. As the root system develops, the plants should be gradually adapted to lower humidity.
