Cultivation
Chrysanthemum L.
Propagation by cuttings is the primary method of vegetative reproduction for chrysanthemums, ensuring the preservation of varietal traits and high production efficiency. The method allows for obtaining up to 43 cuttings from a single mother plant with a rooting rate of 86–100%.
In the reference 27 varieties crop Chrysanthemum, where this is mentioned in the description.
For propagation, apical green shoots 8–12 cm long with 3–4 internodes are used. Selecting shoots from the lower part of the mother plant is particularly effective: it is recommended to detach them from the root rather than cutting them. Vermiculite is preferred as a rooting substrate, as it promotes better root system development.
The timing of propagation depends on the intended use of the crop: the spring period (March–May) is the primary season, with different intervals provided for single-stem and multi-stem cultivation. Under greenhouse conditions, year-round forcing is possible due to the high plasticity of the chrysanthemum. The rooting duration ranges from 20 to 25 days at the beginning of the year and decreases during the spring months.
