A vegetative method of dahlia propagation consisting of separating shoots with a "heel" from root tubers during their awakening period. This method ensures significant rejuvenation of the cultivar, intensive growth, and the formation of healthy tubers by the end of the growing season.

The technique of propagating dahlias via cuttings is based on separating young shoots 7–10 cm tall along with a fragment of the root neck tissue, the so-called heel zone, where meristematic cells are concentrated. This process is carried out between February and April, when the parent tubers begin to wake up, which allows for effective stimulation of root formation.

This method significantly increases the propagation rate, allowing for the production of 3 to 50 specimens from a single parent plant. Cuttings have a pronounced biological rejuvenation effect, increasing plant vigor and flowering intensity. In the first year, such cuttings are capable of forming their own root tubers, which are fully suitable for subsequent storage and planting in open ground.
