The length of a Gerbera flower stalk is measured as the distance from the base of the leaf rosette to the base of the flower head. For commercial cut flower varieties, values from 40 to 70 cm are considered optimal, whereas pot and dwarf forms are characterized by a length of 20 to 30 cm, and tall breeding samples can reach 75 cm.

An important quality criterion, besides length, is the strength of the flower stalk, which ensures the flower head is held in a vertical position. Failure to meet length standards reduces the commercial value of the product, and improper lighting conditions can lead to excessive elongation and deformation of the stems, subsequently requiring additional plant support.
