For pot gerberas, it is critical not to bury the leaf rosette during planting, as moisture accumulation in the center of the rosette triggers the development of fungal diseases. The plant has high requirements for substrate aeration and prefers wide containers, as narrow vessels cause significant suppression of flowering.
The cultivation regime requires intense lighting with mandatory supplemental lighting during the winter period, and the maintenance of specific substrate parameters with a pH of 5.0–5.5 and an EC level of 0.6–0.8. Irrigation should ensure moisture at the depth of the soil while the top layer dries out; furthermore, sharp fluctuations in temperature and humidity have a highly negative impact on crop development.
