Capsicum annuum L.
A fungal disease affecting the vascular system and crown of pepper, caused by specialized forms of Fusarium oxysporum and Fusarium solani.
In the reference 44 varieties crop Bell pepper, where this is mentioned in the description.
The pathogens responsible for the disease include specialized forms of the fungus Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. capsici, which causes Fusarium wilt, Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. radicis-capsici, which leads to crown rot, and Fusarium solani, which triggers stem rot of the plant.
Key symptoms of the infection include yellowing and wilting of the lower leaves, accompanied by the appearance of reddish-brown streaks in the vascular tissues of the stem when cut. The infection damages the root system, and in high humidity, sunken areas with a pinkish mycelial growth may form on the fruits around the peduncle.
