Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench
A complex of sorghum diseases manifesting as root and stalk rots, as well as panicle mold. It is caused by a broad spectrum of fungi of the genus Fusarium, which complicates breeding for resistance.

The main pathogens of the disease in sorghum are the fungi Fusarium thapsinum, Fusarium verticillioides, and Fusarium proliferatum; F. andiyazi, F. fujikuroi, F. subglutinans, F. equiseti, F. oxysporum, F. sporotrichioides, F. solani, and F. avenaceum are also found. The infection affects the tissues of the lower internodes of the stem, causing their internal degradation and plant lodging, and also leads to grain molding and a decrease in its quality due to the accumulation of mycotoxins.
External signs include a reduction in panicle size, poor grain fill, and the appearance of reddish-brown spots on leaf sheaths. Currently, the scientific literature does not define a strict system of pathogen races for sorghum, and specific R-genes for resistance, similar to those used in other cereals, have not yet been identified for widespread use in breeding.
