Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench
An important biometric parameter of sorghum, measured from the soil surface to the tip of the panicle. Height determines mechanized harvesting technology, lodging resistance, and the crop's utilization for either grain or forage mass.

Sorghum height varies within a wide range: from 0.5 m in dwarf forms to 3 m or more in tall tropical varieties. Grain sorghum is characterized by relative dwarfism with average values of 100–120 cm, while sweet sorghum belongs to tall crops with a typical height of 2–3 m.
This trait is plastic and depends on moisture availability conditions, nitrogen nutrition levels, and planting density. Dwarf varieties up to 130 cm are most suitable for harvesting with standard combine harvesters, whereas tall forms are preferred for obtaining large volumes of green mass for silage production, though they require breeding for lodging resistance.
