Unlike cut flower forcing, pot culture requires the selection of short-stemmed varieties or the use of botanical tulips, such as Tulipa kaufmanniana. To ensure a marketable appearance, large bulbs of uniform caliber are necessary to guarantee uniform flowering and to prevent "blind" buds.

An important aspect is the strict control of peduncle height, achieved through the adjustment of cold storage duration and the use of growth regulators. Planting is carried out in a drained nutrient substrate with a pH of 6–8, maintaining a distance of at least 2 cm between bulbs to ensure a dense habit.

Bulb caliber standards depend on forcing schedules and varietal characteristics: for early forcing before March 1, a size of 12+ is used, while for botanical tulips, values of 8/9–10/11 cm are acceptable. Unlike cut flowers, the technological cycle places an emphasis on the health and ornamental quality of the entire foliage.
