In landscape design, Impatiens is used as a shade-tolerant accent, making it suitable for planting under tree canopies or on the north side of buildings. The crop is valued for its "self-cleaning" trait, where spent flowers drop off naturally, and its genetic compactness, which ensures the formation of a dense floral carpet without the need for pinching.

The plant has succulent stems that are sensitive to water management: lack of moisture quickly leads to a loss of turgor, while waterlogging leads to the development of root rots. When selecting varieties for flower beds, phytosanitary resistance is taken into account, specifically the susceptibility of Impatiens walleriana to downy mildew, which is why preference is given to New Guinea impatiens and interspecific hybrids.

Modern breeding has expanded the application of the crop by creating hybrids tolerant to direct sunlight. This allows Impatiens to be used not only as a shade plant but also in open areas, while still maintaining strict requirements for regular irrigation and soil drainage in floral compositions.
