Container cultivation for Hippeastrum is a key tool for managing the plant's life cycle. Such mobility is a necessary condition for successful regulation of flowering times and for ensuring optimal plant development.

When growing in containers, the selection of a pot with effective drainage and aeration of the root zone is critical. For bulb development, particularly for the species H. papilio, standards have been established for pot diameters of 6–8 inches. The crop allows for the use of various substrates, ranging from traditional sod-peat mixtures to hydroponics with expanded clay, which enables the plant to be adapted to interior landscaping conditions.
