Irrigation of Hippeastrum is based on strict adherence to the plant's life cycle phases. At the beginning of the growing season, watering should be moderate, gradually increasing as the flower stalk grows and reaching its maximum during the active flowering and leaf development period. When preparing for the dormancy phase, the intensity of watering is gradually reduced, and during the dormant phase, it is minimized to the level necessary only to prevent the root system from drying out.

Due to the high sensitivity of the bulb to waterlogging, bottom watering via a tray is preferred to prevent water stagnation and moisture from reaching the bulb neck, which minimizes the risk of rot. Lack of moisture during the flower stalk formation period critically reduces bud quality and flower size, whereas excessive watering in the early stages stimulates vegetative growth to the detriment of generative development.
