Fodder beet is valued for its high organic matter digestibility, which ranges from 87–93%. Unlike sugar beet, it contains fewer sugars (6–9%) with higher levels of fiber, pectin, and plant protein, making it an essential dietary component that ensures a stable energy concentration in the ration.
A morphological feature of fodder varieties is the development of large roots weighing up to 5 kg or more, which partially protrude above the soil surface, facilitating harvest. The crop is characterized by high yields of up to 900–1000 c/ha and allows for the use of the entire above-ground part of the plant in fresh or ensiled form.
