A complex of triticale diseases caused by soil-borne pathogens, resulting in yield losses of 15 to 40% due to damage to the root system and stem base throughout the growing season.

Root rots of triticale are polyetiological in nature and are caused by a complex of fungi, among which Fusarium culmorum, F. oxysporum, F. avenaceum, F. solani, F. equiseti, as well as Bipolaris sorokiniana, Rhizoctonia solani, Rhizoctonia cerealis, and Ophiobolus graminis prevail.

Infection manifests from the seedling stage as browning of the coleoptile, tillering node, and roots, leading to thinning of crops. In adult plants, the disease is accompanied by whiteheads, empty ears, grain shriveling, and general stunting; under conditions of high humidity, the development of sporulation is possible.
