A fungal disease of the genus Veronica, caused primarily by the pathogen Golovinomyces bolayi, manifesting as a white powdery coating on leaves and stems.

The primary causal agent of powdery mildew in Veronica species is the fungus Golovinomyces bolayi, which affects species such as Veronica longifolia, V. hederifolia, and V. serpyllifolia. In addition, representatives of the genera Podosphaera, including Podosphaera xanthii, and Sphaerotheca are considered potential pathogens.

The disease manifests as white or grayish-white powdery spots of mycelium, localized primarily on the upper surface of leaves, and less frequently on stems and flowers. The spread of these spots leads to deformation, curling, and yellowing of the leaves, which inhibits plant development and shortens the flowering period.

Specific resistance genes to this disease in Veronica have not yet been mapped and are not used in breeding practice. Evaluation of cultivar susceptibility to the pathogen is based on field observations, and the classification of fungal races affecting this genus remains a subject for further research.
