Growing Veronica in containers requires the selection of compact cultivars, the use of highly aerated substrates, and strict moisture control. The plant is extremely sensitive to water stagnation at the root collar, which triggers the development of fungal diseases.

Dwarf and compact cultivars, such as those from the V. spicata group, are most suitable for planting in confined volumes. The soil mix should be light and well-drained, with the mandatory addition of perlite. The use of heavy garden soil is unacceptable, as it compacts quickly and blocks drainage holes, causing the substrate to sour.

An important aspect is the organization of drainage: holes should be large, and the use of expanded clay at the bottom is not recommended as it hinders normal water outflow. The container should match the size of the root system to avoid the souring of soil not colonized by roots. Due to the rapid compaction of the substrate, plants require repotting every one to two years.

In container conditions, Veronica requires more frequent watering than in open ground, despite its natural drought tolerance. Any imbalance in moisture and aeration is critical: excess water in the root collar zone instantly triggers root dieback and the development of powdery mildew. When choosing containers, preference is given to plastic options resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
