Veronica frost resistance

To assess the frost resistance of Veronica, the generally accepted USDA hardiness zone scale is used, according to which most cultivated species, such as Veronica spicata, correspond to zones 3–8. Varieties included in zone 3 are characterized by high resistance to extremely low temperatures and are capable of overwintering without special protection.

When grown in open ground, an important condition for successful overwintering is ensuring high-quality drainage, which prevents the root system from rotting. To maintain vitality during the winter period, it is recommended to perform autumn soil moisture charging irrigation, which prevents the desiccation of plant tissues during the winter-spring period.
