Abundance and duration of China aster flowering

The flowering duration of China aster is defined as the period from the mass flowering of 75% of plants until the end of this stage. For annual aster varieties, standard values range from 35 to 60 days, while modern breeding lines are capable of maintaining aesthetic appeal for 40–90 days.

Flowering abundance is characterized by the number of inflorescences per plant, their density, and is assessed by experts on a 100-point scale. For cut-flower varieties, this indicator is closely linked to the market quality of the flower stalks, whereas for bedding forms, the priority is maintaining maximum aesthetic effect.

Realizing the potential of these traits requires balanced potassium-phosphorus nutrition and control of nitrogen levels during the budding phase. Agrotechnically, to ensure continuous flowering in the field from June to October, a staggered sowing method with one-month intervals is employed.
