An infectious disease caused by the pathogen Botrytis tulipae, affecting the above-ground parts of the plant and the bulbs. It is characterized by the appearance of spots with a gray coating, stem twisting, and the formation of sclerotia on the bulbs.

The causal agent of tulip Botrytis blight is the specialized fungus Botrytis tulipae, which can cause damage to all plant organs. On leaves, stems, and buds, the disease manifests as yellowish-gray or brown spots with a reddish border, which become covered with a gray sporulation coating in high humidity conditions. As a result of pathogen development, stem twisting, deformation, and drying of buds are observed.

On the surface of the bulbs, the disease manifests through sunken yellowish-gray or brown spots. A key sign of bulb infection is the formation of small, shiny black fungal sclerotia, which serve as the primary source of infection. During storage, severely affected bulbs soften and rot completely.
