Depending on this parameter, cultivars are classified as low-growing, medium-growing, and vigorous, although there are no clear numerical limits for the trait due to its high dependence on growing conditions.
This indicator determines the technological requirements for the crop: vigorous cultivars reaching 1.5–3 meters require the installation of trellises to prevent lodging. Furthermore, high vigor requires more intensive shoot thinning to maintain bush ventilation and light penetration, as well as adjustments to pruning methods and mechanical harvesting strategies.
