The inflorescence of Chrysanthemum indicum is a capitulum consisting of central tubular florets and marginal ray florets. Morphological traits of the inflorescence, including its type and diameter, are key parameters for cultivar evaluation.

The inflorescence type is classified by the degree of doubleness: single-flowered types contain 1–4 rows of ray florets, semi-double types contain at least five, and double-flowered types are characterized by a multi-row arrangement of ray florets, often displacing the tubular ones. For pure forms of Chrysanthemum indicum L., small-flowered inflorescences with a diameter of 3 to 8 cm are the most characteristic.
Inflorescence quality, including size and shape regularity, depends critically on the light regime, as the chrysanthemum is a short-day plant. To manage inflorescence parameters in agronomy, disbudding of lateral shoots and removal of excess flower buds are employed, which allows for an increase in the size of the central inflorescence.
