Watermelon marketability is the proportion of fruit meeting varietal quality standards in terms of shape, color, weight, and maturity relative to the total harvested yield.

The compliance criteria include a minimum diameter of 13 cm for early varieties and 17 cm for late varieties, as well as a marketable weight characteristic of the specific breeding type, ranging from 4 to 11 kg.
The indicator is expressed as a percentage of the total yield or in units of marketable yield per unit area. High marketability is achieved through the genetic resistance of varieties to anthracnose and Fusarium wilt, and it also correlates with rind thickness and flesh density, which improves the transportability and shelf life of the fruit.
